I need some advice, my boyfriend and i are gonig to the following: Bangkok, Koh Sok national park, Krabi, kuala lumper langkawi and singapore, we are ok with getting from bangkok to the national park because we can go on sleeper train but how can we get to and from the other places, cheaply and confortable
buses are very efficient - but not the 'touristy' one.
Just go to the towns bus station
Check out AirAsia.
For travelling within Malaysia, you may want to try out the train.
When are you guys coming anyway?
have to plan my jouneys at least 1.5 years in advance
yeah we always plan ahead im a travel agent so can look whiile im at work
backpacking is not necessarily about planning everything to the greatest detail - in fact it's very much about 'playing by ear' and improvisation.
have always contingency plans
Take train from Bangkok and get off in Krabi...enjoy hotspint and emerald pond first and then, you can think of how to get to khao sok national park next day.
Take local bus to khao sok and jump on a long tail boat and sleep in a floating house. Don't miss the view point..even it's not easy to get to but it's wroth...
and ' tham tharn lord ' , enjoy trekking and walking in the cave...water running all the way through.
wake up early to enjoy breath taking of morning fog.
from krabi.. you can take train to kuala lumpur , the train end at butterwroth.
If you are going to be at Butterworth for the train, you could get the fast ferry to Langkawi and back (from Georgetown, just over the causeway on Penang).
Or you could get the boat on from Langkawi to Satun in Thailand then a bus to Krabi.
The sleeper train was a nightmare.. spent two days recovering.. as I didn't sleep hardly a wink, and arrived at 6am argh !
Even though it costs more to fly, it was better value in the long run, as I didn't do anything for two days but sleep.. what I saved on the train I spent more on the hotel..
And i'm usually an adovacate for the train (always more scenic!)
