Peter: there seems to be a bug with the list code - the first item I had in the list two posts above has disappeared: could you see if it's present in the database?

Anyway, for completeness sake, the first way it all works with the Mozilla Foundation is that:
AOL, which owns Netscape, which is based on Mozilla/Firefox code, gave the Mozilla Foundation $2 million to get started.

If you have a scroll-wheel on the mouse, you can click that downward to middle-click.

Thanks, I have a scoll mouse.

By the way, I just tried it here on this site (with IE) and it was pretty cool, after I clicked the scroll button (I didn't have to use the scroll button to scroll down. I have an optical mouse and after clciking the scrool button I could move my mouse and it will scroll my down and up the page. Pretty cool I discovered something new.

Hey Sander,

Thanks so much for the additional detailed explanation about Firefox, Mozilla, keeping the internet open & free, etc.. I was really curious, and interested, about everything you just explained.

I downloaded, installed and am using Firefox. In fact I'm using it to post this message. So we'll see if I like it better than IE.

Hey Sander,

I tried that open in taps feature. That awesome, I had my 10 favorite web pages that I usually check out each morning all open and load at once and then just check them out by clicking the taps.

Any other useful features I should use (that probably weren't available with IE)? Or Firefox tips?

I use firefox, but I guess us Travellerspoint boys are a little biased too since browsers like firefox make websites much easier to develop (the whole keeping the browser up to date thing) :)

Plus, IE doesn't work that well on a mac and safari is better there anyway so I stopped using IE when I switched to the mac. Then Pete convinced me to move to firefox and here I am....

More cool features? Have you tried the extensions? You can also get there by clicking on the drop down box in the top right hand corner that by default has the google logo/search in it. Click on the 'add more engines' to add more of the most popular sites you use and search through regularly. It's a nifty way to search sites you like but not have to first go to that site.

There is also one developed for the Travellerspoint forums actually but I see it hasn't been added yet to the mozilla list.... Maybe we should ask Sander nicely??? :)

I'm using Firefox and I find it better than IE. I get a lot less popups and a lot less spyware, and for that I am thankful. Only thing is that most websites are built to cater for IE, and viewing them on Firefox sometimes screws up the layout a little, or some websites don't respond to Firefox. But that's a small thing that I can live with. :)

Hey Zachary,

I just downloaded it last night, have been using it since, and am starting to get used to it. Had to close all my IE windows though so I'd just use firefox. So far, so good...we'll see.

One thing I did like better is with IE I could save a picture to my HD just by putting my mouse over it and clicking a little icon that came up (with Firefox I need to right-click and "save picture").

Other than that I like the taps feature (that will open my favorite web pages all at once), and like the toolbar at the top better. And I guess even though it's not as tangable, the added security and reduction of spyware is a bonus.
