I have been looking for a great mp3 players for travelling. I want a model Long-playing time high sound quality and more control.

I happend to find a brand coming from China named MEIZU at
http://en.meizu.com/PRODUCT.asp

Has anyone used such china brand before? they look unbelievably beautiful. Even more elegant than whatever mp3 players I have seen before such as iPod shuffle, iRiver, Rio. It has the most comprehensive functions like CD-direct recording in MP3 format, A UNIQUE wheel button letting your browse your hundreds songs easily,
it even has a FM radio with SRS sound effect....

One AAA battery plays 50 hours! perfect for travelling

Any comment?

George

Hi George.
First player that came to my mind when I saw the picture of Meizu, was that it's somewhat copied iRivers look. There's no way it will work 50 hours with 1 AAA battery, 10-12 would be my guess. And 128mb will not keep you entertained for all those hours either. Line-in recording is not vital thing in my opinion. All options of this player are very similar to Samsung's. Seems to be bit overpriced to me, have you considered Sandisk DAP? 512mb for 100$, this has best price/size/quality ratio in my opinion.

yes, 128mb is not good enough, 2 albums if youre lucky unless you like crap sounding mp3s.

Most of the hdd type mp3 players have after market battery solutions which is a bonus. Especially IPOD, the after market goods for Apple are immense.

thanks. MelesMeles

But I emailed meizu and was told that 50 hours playing is tested and I found MPio or another famous band also boasts 40 hours playing. maybe it is indeed possible for an AAA for 50 hours -:)

Good is it has FM radio.
They also boasts the 6 line LCD and text reading.

How do u think the wheel button?
How about the alarm clock function? I thought it can be used as a good travelling alarm clock.

That mp3 watch doesnt impress me. Is it just me or there isnt estimated battery life mentioned? And you can only charge it from USB port. Also one of it's features seems to be "Sock proof"
'Wheel' or 'scroll' type buttons are neat and practical. I have no idea what to think of the alarm function - it would have to be pretty loud to wake me up. Nice option anyway. I found some information about other Meizu mp3 players at Amazon, some positive reviews there.
Still I personally would get something from Creative or Sandisk ;).

Good luck with shopping.

Hey George,

I'm sorry, but we have to be strict with first time posters, as we don't know their reason for posting a particular link. I've updated the link to the direct Meizu link, to avoid what could be seen as promotional.

There is no way one AAA battery will last 50 hours in my opinion... sales people go a long way sometimes, especially when the company might not be so well known. Even well known electronics companies typically overstate their battery playing time or it is in ideal conditions etc. etc.

Don't expect more than 25 if you buy it.
