Not sure about that .

But a while back I was really hoping you guys would vote to secede so I could have gotten another country without having to even have to go anywhere.

I'm still depressed I lost East Germany .

I'm a rank amateur with 12 and that's counting a transit through switzerland to get to Italy, I'd never say I'd really been there though!

Even when I get back in a year (leaving Wednesday!) I'll still be low at 25. :)

I would say that PEI is included because it is "removed from parent, either geographically, politically or ethnologically (see the Country Status page for detailed criteria)." Though, of course, I think that Newfoundland is a lot more politically, geographically and ethnologically distinct from Canada than PEI.

Not sure if I agree with their rules, though. "After consideration as to how long one must have stayed in a country or island group to qualify, it was decided that even the shortest visit would suffice — even if only a port-of-call, or a plane fuel stop." I think that's a bit too loose. You should at least have to get out of the airport. I once heard someone suggest that you need to use the bathroom (#2) in a country to count being in it.

Why don't you drop them an email (although I really think #1 should be enough) .

Maybe they changed the rules over the years. I did recently read the rule part that you've quoted above, but I seem to remember that the rule used to be, that you had to GET YOUR 2 FEET ON THE GROUND (ie--get off the train, plane, boat, or whatever). never any mention of using the bathroom though .

I agree! What with jet lag, a different diet, a change in routine, etc. etc. - you can go days without any success with #2.

Plus, if you #2'ed in a country's airspace at 35,000 feet, would that count?

Only if it made "land contact."

Good thing we're not the club officers .
