When I travel I find it interesting to see what American TV shows are shown on TV in other countries. Lots of times they are shows that were hits here many years ago. I remember reading that at one time "Baywatch" was the most widely watched program in the World. Anyway, those of you that live outside the USA:

What are your favorite American TV shows?

What American TV shows did you watch in the past?

Was the show shown in English (with subtitles) or dubbed in your country?

I'm curious which shows people outside the USA have been exposed to both in the past as well as today.

My favorite television show of all time was Monty Python's Flying Circus...kinda funny when you think about it;)
(CSI is a close second, but that is only because of Gil)

When I was in Rio, I met two guys from S. Africa. One of the guy's profession back home; was to hammer out deals w/ U.S. tv syndicates.

The big shows are CSI(s), Sex in the city, OC, and all the reality shows.

But the number one export.......Jerry Springer! Can u believe that crap??!!

U are telling me. A lot of sterotypes are driven from tv. When folks discovered I'm from the U.S AND from California; I swear.. everyone asked if I was from the "OC". If I surfed and drove a convertible! I hate that show! Really, can't blame them though.

There have been so many American shows on TV, difficult to keep the count. X-Files, Stargate, Home Improvement, 24, MacGyver, Airwolf, A-Team, Knight Rider, Married With Children, Baywatch, Six Feet Under, Nip/Tuck, CSI and CSI Miami, ..., that list is endless. At the moment reality shows are very popular here - Amazing Race, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and some others.

All tv-shows here are shown with subtitles, fortunately. Same applies for Swedish and Finnish television. I remember that everything was dubbed in France and Germany.

And my favourite tv shows? Right now 24, Amazing Race S7, Desperate Housewives, CSI and CSI New York, Joan Of Arcadia (Shame that they pulled the plug), Mythbusters, ... - everything via p2p networks from internet, 'cos I dont like watching tv shows with subtitles and commercials.

Wow, that's terrible, that show should be banned from export. You should have to actually come over here to see how many "weirdos" live here.

Whose Line is it Anyway

I have NEVER understood ANYTHING about this show. Does anyone know what's going on in this show?

Thanks Hien for your detailed answer. I'm curious what shows we're exporting to the World. Probably has some influence on shaping how others view us.
