The 30th May is Memorial Day, but this year's holiday is especially meaningful. Monday marks the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Here are ten great places to honour the sacrifices of those involved.
Have you been to any of them yourself?
Only the National Mall and the Arizona Memorial...but I would love to see them all before I die. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII (One in the Pacific Theater and one in the European) and I am a WWII buff. I collect memorabilia and books on the subject.
What countries outside the USA observe Memorial Day as a Holiday?
I've been to 3 1/2:
-WW II memorial in DC
-USS Arizon, Pearl Harbor (saw it from the plane, half credit )
I'd really like to see the "Memorial to the Fallen Heroes of Stalingrad" in Volgograd, Russia.
