Best Swiss hiking/camping?

Travel Forums Europe Best Swiss hiking/camping?

I’m planning on spending a week or two in Switzerland. I’d like to find a region where I can hike between towns by hiking about 10 to 20k a day and stay in cabins or campsites along the way. Any suggestions?

thanks

hey charles!
i'm not entirely sure on the campsite issue, but around interlaken, lauterbrunnen, wengen, grimmelwald, and other such towns, you will find great hiking paths through the alps! they are good for day trips, and the scenery is breathtaking!

happy travels! ;)

ps>> make sure you stay on the trails! i made the mistake of getting side tracked, and i ended up walking around hopelessly lost for a good 2 or 3 hours with my mother!! (it made for a great story though!)

Hi Charles,

I couldn't really figure out in what kind of hiking you are? hiking between towns, or in the alps? If you decide for the alps I can recommend SAC lodges (Swiss Alpine Club) www.sac.ch. They are relativly cheap, but you might want to reservate ahead as some of those lodges are very popular.

Personnally I recommend as ChIqUiTtA the Bernese Oberland (Interlaken). Great to visit is also the Tessin with its mediteranen touch and lakes!

You should be able to find detailed hiking maps when arriving in Switzerland in almost every book store.

Hope this helped!
