I once sat beside a woman on a flight who pulled out an inflatable pillow from her carry-on and proceeded to blow it up. It took her but a few minutes and then she wrapped a blanket around it, turned her ass to me, and snuggled up against the window with it. I remember scrunching my jumper up into a little ball and wishing I had one.

I'm always freezing on flights too. And the lack of room always starts to bother me after a while on long flights. Plus I hate getting up and walking around because..well...everyone's looking right at you.

And I can never make up my mind if I want the window seat....obvious reasons....or the aisle seat so I can get up and go to the bathroom easily without disturbing everyone....or if I should take the middle seat and have a bit of the best of both worlds....but less elbow room.

I have issues, I know

Next time, buy three seats and have the best of all worlds!

I thought I was the only one who couldn't decide. I sat next to the window on a 13-hour overnight flight, and slept in the little window alcove while the two next two me tried to get some rest on their dinner trays. I was mighty happy then! But those 3 juices, 2 water bottles and all that red wine eventually caught up to me and I thought "now I'm going to have to wake them up, scoot them over, and then come back and do the same thing in reverse." I'd say the best bet is to sit in a solo seat in first class. If I ever try it, I'll let you know what it's like.

Im flying with United from Sydney to LA ( a good 13 hours) and I am going with a mate of mine. When we booked our tickets, we chose our seats at the same time and got the best possible...i think....they are on the left side, with the exit door in front of us, meaning lots of leg room ( something we both need considering we are both 6 foot 3!)

Also, for no extra cost, we were able to get the middle seat aswell as the window and isle seat for the two of us...meaning even more room

my husband is 6ft 7inches, so we always try to get there early and get an emergency row...

personally I like being so short, when I was seated in the no-room middle seat, I used to shimmy into it, fold down the tray, hook my legs around it and sleep in an upside down fetal position...

sounds horribly uncomfortable, but it worked for me. if nothing else it reinforces your sense of humor!

I always save up my can't-wait-to-read books for plane rides. That way, I know I'll be immersed in the thing and won't get antsy as quickly. Sometimes the in-flight movies are alright, though (although I once came back on a flight playing XXX and Scooby Doo 2 - The horror!).

lol i had that on my flight too once. Was not the best plane journey ever.

on my flight from LA to Melbourne, they played 4 movies, the first one was horribly boring (about hairdressers!!) and so my seatmates and I just chatted away. About 1am, that one was ending and we were getting sleepy, then SHREK came on... by 1:30am the whole plane was wide awake and laughing hysterically together... the best plane vibe ever!
