Hi, i've heard a lot of baggage slash, item stolen, drug inserted blah blah... while transporting luggague to thailand. Is it true? How to prevent it?
I am thinking of backpacking. Any precaution?

I would still recommend going! Just use commen sense. And keep a close eye on your items. You sould be just fine! :)

Hi Kiro,

AirAsia is fine. I've flown with them (domestic flights to Sabah & Sarawak) quite a number of times last year. And like Cupcake says, use common sense - Watch your things and lock your bags. Check your belongings IMMEDIATELY at the baggage reclaim area when you sense something not right and report to the airport authorities if it really is!

Hey kiro,

It's like anything else. You can still go swimming in the Ocean even though you heard of a Shark Attack. Driving your car in your own country is probably the most rsiky thing that you'll do.

The advice on this thread (especially form Hien) is excellent.

Especially know that you are more aware you are very unlikely to be a victim. I've traveled in many of these countries and never had ANY problems!

So go, be sensible, don't worry, and ENJOY YOURSELF!

These worries of little risks all belong to the adventure. It all are stories you pick up from the media, you should worry about the fact that you plane could make a crash (I am....I hate flying).

thanks,
Well, i will still be going to Thailand. I will stick to the advise given by all.

Bringing big clumpsy lugguage is not my type, i will be taking my old time favourite soft backpack. AND will tape it for good. hmmm..... wrap it up too.....
