Hello i am getting into Bangkok late on wednesday night thought i would just catch the bus to Koh san road. I need to find a cheap place to stay. Any recommendations? I don't get in till about 12pm do you think it is fine just to head there and find somewhere to sleep. I am a 24 year old girl on my own? anyway let me know of any cheap guest houses that are ok. Thank you
Daisy

I'd definately book a place to stay before arriving. You will probably find something upon arrival, but it might take som time to find available rooms late in the evening. I'd recomand the streets just around Khao San Road, as these are a bit quiter at night... Chai's house is a cheap and ok alternative some 100-200m away from Khao San, 150 bath for a single room with fan and shared bathroom.

If you haven't been to Khao San before, then you could find it very stressful looking for a cheap OR any reasonable guesthouse after midnight. It is best to book ahead. Otherwise, you end up in a noisy, hot, overpriced room with no window or air.

book ahead - i arrived on monday and it was stressful enough finding the hotel i had already booked. the sawasdee bangulumpu inn is good but you can find cheaper than the 400b, although it is quite in comparsion to the main street

I did use the Sawasdee Hotels earlier this year. There are four of them around the Khao San area.

The Sawasdee Welcome Inn was the cheapest and also had friendly receptionists.
