I am really SICK OF THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS, MAKING COLOMBIA LOOK LIKE THE MOST DANGEROUS HORRIBLE PLACE ON THE PLANET!!!

I think the Colombian government should really start suing whoever writes all that bunch of crap

I have been in Colombia for over 6 months, and I haven't seen absolutely nothing horrible here!!!

When I look back and look at the different countries in south america that I have visited, I can easily tell that countries like Brazil, Venezuela even Mexico are by far more dangerous than colombia, especially BRazil!!

The crime in Colombia, is mostly related to las farc, and it happens in the most remote regions of the country; areas of the country where no one lives, regions with nothing but anacondas

I wish before people come here yapping about kidnappings in colombia, while they are in Brazil or Mexico, would look at this stats again, and realized that actually brazil and mexico have way more kidnappings than colombia!!!

the international press loves to crucify colombia, with its sensationalist crap, and it freaking annoys me!!!

because they will take a minor thing that could happen in the middle of the freaking jungle and make it huge, and blow it outta proportion.

I have been in colombia for this long time, and nothing has happened to me, the country is modern, is democratic, is nice, is clean, the people is friendly, good looking, the food is awesome, the landscapes are nice!!!

DO NOT BUY ALL THAT MEDIA CRAP, COME SEE COLOMBIA FOR YOURSELF

grrr it annoys me!!!

I've read that confrontations between guerrillagroups, paramilitairian organisations and Colombian armed forces only take place in rural areas.

When i was saying to people that i was comng to south america, everyone said to me, OH MY GOD; tu es loco!! (crazy)
Why do they say that, again the media! I feel safer in south am all the time, more so than at home going out into town.
Couldnt agree more with you!

Andrea,

Thanks a lot. Please feel free to write about your experiences. I live in Bogota and I totally agree with you. Its time someone tell travellers that Colombia is a must. And its not all about violence...

I will keep in touch!

I was just in Colombia in May as well. I couldn't agree with you more! Everyone here in the US thinks I am crazy for visiting Colombia, and they do not believe me when I tell them how wrong the media's perception is. I was all over the country: Bucaramanga, San Gil, Cartagena, Armenia, Bogota, and other small towns. I am marrying a Colombian woman next year in Bucaramanga, and some of my family have reservations about going. It's very frustrating for me, and they do is keep talking about the kidnappings. i wonder how many US citizens have been actually kidnapped this year.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
