that link tells me 200 dollars is 100 english pounds, so i repeat my original worry. if one small bus trip first class from puebla to oaxaco is 200+ dollers (100+ english pounds), surely my trip is impossible on a 2000 pound budget, as im going to 11 different places and have to pay for food and hostels too.

hola Tony, The graphic symbol for the Mexican peso is: $ (the dollar sign) but not to be confused with the dollar. Thus, $270 for a bus ride in Mexico would mean 270 pesos and be the equivalent of USD27 approximately.
I'm heading for Mexico very soon so did some research but I'm no expert yet! This is my first post as member of travellerspoint

hi Cupcake! Thank you for your welcome:) I'm test packing for departure to Mexico very soon. Too bad I can't stuff my PC in my backpack Just when I found Travellerspoint too I'll be on the road for quite some time but won't miss a chance to log in and cry HELP

I promise to help in return, as soon as I learn enough about Mexico and have easy access to the Net.

An average calculation is 1 to 10 1 to 13 now for pounds.

You have a lot of money to survive, plus in the places you plan to stay there are plenty of nice people such as leiro in Puebla who will give you a hand.

good luck
