It`s International Children`s Day today(June 1). I didn`t celebrate it since 12 years old, but still received greetings.
I didn`t want to grow up as a child; now I don`t want to grow old.
Time just passes too quickly!

I left China on this day exactly 20 years ago, on what I thought was a summer vacation visiting my dad in San Fran. I can still remember the day so well. Boy do I suddenly feel old!
Children's Day is very special in China. I have two Chinese friends with birthdays on this day. They are very lucky ![]()

I used to receive gifts from the local government on Children's Day because I was an only child. That was back when the "one-child" policy was only encouraged and not required. Man, I feel even older now!
But..............every day should be children's day...........
It's the thought that counts, of course ...![]()
I have just received the following SMS / text message from one of my Chinese students. She is 21:
"... happy children's day! keep a childlike heart, you will possess happiness for ever!..." ![]()

That's weird...Isn't Children's Day on the 1st of October?! Maybe my country got it all wrong..anyway i didn't enjoy celebrating it. We used to get crappy presents and year in year out, we always had to sing Auld Lang Syne.. but Happy Children Day to all, children or not children!

Very true. Children manage to see the beauty in things that adults have become to take for granted. I also think children feel more deeply than adults...who have distanced themselves from truely feeling deeply after a life time of dissapoints and let downs. Children throw everything they have into everything they do and feel. Pity we lose that as we age.
