My luggage has been delayed so many times, I lost count already. While upsetting at first, now I carry delay insurance. So if I am flying somewhere other than my hometown, delayed luggage means SHOPPING SPREE!!!

I have more than paid for the insurance ($5.75 per flight). The rule is that the luggage must be delayed more than 5 hrs (or maybe 3, hmmm) but it is an easy rule to get around...I can always make myself unavailable to the return hahaha. Actually, I have never gotten my luggage back that quickly but it has always worked out.

Psst Greg, get the insurance!! (Not that it would have worked in this instance but maybe next time ;) ).

Quoting GregW

What upsets me is that no one proactively told me that my bag wasn't on the flight. They have all these computers that track baggage through the system and all these computer that track people through the system.

Yes, I think they usually know as you are getting on the plane. The craziest thing I heard last yr when I arrived in Peru (and my luggage didnt) was..."oh yes, Mrs Reinstein, your luggage is still in Miami, it never boarded the plane because of weight restrictions". WHHHHAAAAATTT????

I was livid! They weighted all the luggage at the aiport so once it reached a certain limit, all the luggage went to a different place to be added to the later flights (as I came to find out). They knew! Anyway, like I said, I got to Lima and went directly to the mall. It worked out very nicely...
