Thought it would be nice to have a thread to post interesting news articles that we come across, so that others can also read them.

Here's one I read today:

100 naked women rain dance in Nepal

Jun 7 2005

icWales

More than 100 women danced naked in a remote mountainous village in Nepal hoping the gods would be pleased and give them rain, a news report said Tuesday.

The women gathered at a local school, smeared their faces with black powder and danced naked last week at Darbang village, about 175 miles west of the capital, Katmandu.

"People in this area believe the (Hindu god) Mahadev will be happy and provide rain once women perform such a nude dance," the Kathmandu Post quoted local teacher as saying.

Weather forecasters say monsoon rain needed for crops has been delayed in the region this year.

Russian Lake Disappears Overnight!

From the many stories I have read about this incidence - a sinkhole developed at the bottom of a Russian lake - sucking all the water, fish, aquatic creatures, trees and surrounding land into the earth.

This happened overnight. A lake existed one day and had vanished by the following morning. One elderly woman is quoted: "I thought the Americans had got here." Mystery surrounds the incidence...

The funniest part of this article was the old woman they spoke too...she thinks the Americans did it, she doesn't know how...but she thinks they did it;)

Look at that, the Americans on this board acting all innocent and everything like they didn't know that they drained the lake. You can't fool us, Yankees!

Watch out Greg, their coming for Lake Ontario next & I seriously doubt that your pom pom waving cheerleading squad is going to get you out of this one

Hey! I posted that story and I'm an American! Someone had to expose the truth about our behind-the-scenes, under-the-table, the-cold-war-has-ended-but -we"re-still-going-to-get-the-Russians Black Ops missions. Just doing my part to expose our super-secret plan to drain all the lakes everywhere! (Terrorists hide in them your know...)

Fiona, I hope they survived too! If not, the least we could have done for draining their lake was introduce them to the Friday Night Fish Fry. (I get blamed for everything else - but I wasn't there. Honest. No, really - I wasn't!)

Oh no, they are on to us...we better scrap our 'operation lake drain' until further notice...this message will self destruct in 30 seconds....
