I'm taking the Trans-Siberian, Moscow to Beijing, in stages and have got conflicting information about the last leg i.e. Ulan Batar to Beijing. I know there is a train on a Thursday ( which is playing havoc with the planning) and that there is also a Saturday train in high season but I don't know when the high season ends?
I will be travelling in mid September and dont really fancy the prospect of having to spend almost an extra week in Ulan Batar while missing connections and friends...in Beijing and Shanghai.
If anyone can clarify this for me , or has any suggestions ,I would be hugely grateful,
Check out this thread - there is a link to a website that lists the schedule. Trans-Mongolian train.
According to the site, it appears there are up to three trains - the one that leaves Moscow on Tuesday, which should leave Ulan Bator on Sundays. In addition, there are trains between Ulan Bator to Beijing on Thursdays year round, additionally on Fridays between 7 June & 27 September 2005. Please double-check days of running when you book. Soft class 4-berth sleepers and hard class sleepers.
