I disagree. Melbourne's weather is fantastic! It all depends what you consider good weather. I love the changing seasons in Melbourne, the winters are very mild by European standards and spring and autumn are usually very pleasant. You can even go skiing several hours out of Melbourne in winter, not that I ski And if you want more rain than Melbourne, you just need to head down to Tasmania :) But, I do agree, this time of the year, you are probably better off up north somewhere :)

if youre not sure where you want to go to work you can try fruit picking across the country as different seasons will take you different places and it is easy work to get.
that way you can both work and travel.

Definately start up north and then head south as the weather fines up.... inland, Alice Springs and NT won't be too hot at this point in time - although Pearth is great this time of year.... especially if you head to Margaret River.
