Heading to Oz from the UK (Dec) and thought I'd stop off for a week somewhere. Any recommendations

Tokyo is probably the most out of the way destination that you have mentioned, so I would suggest that. You may not get another chance to get there.

It would also be the most expensive, but this would not be so bad if you have British pounds. December is winter in Japan, just like the UK. You would not need to adjust for the weather

I would choose to shortest way to get to Oz - some airlines stop in arabic coutries

I would definitely stop if you can get a free stop. My choice would be (in order): Bangkok, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong.

By the way, if you coming form the UK, Bangkok & Singapore would be on the way.

Cheers for your thoughts/advice.

I take it not many people have made it to Tokyo then? I don't fancy the cold, but have taken your (Wocca's) comments on board.

Is there anything worth seeing in Bangkok or nearby (aside temples and hookers)? I'll have a week so could travel around a bit.

Quoting Adsey

Is there anything worth seeing in Bangkok or nearby (aside temples and hookers)?
