Eefs has indicated that this thread is about Vietnam

Due to threats of terrorism etc in Indonesia we are thinking of changing our travel plans for the next few months. There are three girls travelling & we were going to head to Indonesia (bali/Lombok & Gili Islands especially) after travelling Sabah. We are now thinking of changing our plans as follows:
KL(3days)-Brunei(2days)-Mt Kinabalu-Seploik-Turtle Islands etc-Phillipines (where i dont know....any suggestions would be great)-......After this it goes a bit haxy, but i am thinking perhaps of catching a flight to Vietnam & travelling through to Cambodia before getting a flight back to KL. The only problem is that we only have 2months to do this as the other girls have to catch a plane home.....Is this enough time? I have done a lot of research on Indonesia but know almost nothing about Phillipines, Vietnam/Cambodia so am a bit stumped as to what to do!!!

There are so many conflicting opinions on the safety of the places that i plan to travel to. I read in the UK/Ireland Sunday Times travel section yesterday that the UK govt had issued a warning re Indonesia and discouraged any 'non-essential' travel? Is this just a scare tactic? I know that we often hear ridiculously exaggerated stories of danger over here-was the same when i went to Mexico

The FCO warning is only for some parts of Indonesia - Aceh, Maluku and Central Sulawesi.

You can see the essentials of Vietnam in 2 weeks and Cambodia in a week easily. Fly into Hanoi and spend 2 days, 2 days in Sapa, 2 days in Halong Bay and then travel down through the country maybe stopping off at Hue, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, and then hit Saigon for a few days, you can then get the boat from Saigon up the Phnom Penh, 2 or 3 days here, and then get the boat up to Siem Reap to explore Angkor Wat for 2 or 3 days. Ideally, 3 weeks in Vietnam you can see loads, but 2 weeks you may have to drop Mui Ne, Hoi An. Nha Trang is ok, but really just a beach resort same as Mui Ne.

There is no terrorist threat in Vietnam and it is very safe here.
