I was wondering if anyone knew how long the ferry took and what time it sets of and if it is easy to reach Athens from Patras.

You do not get a room with your interrail ticket, the other questions I don't have an answer to..

I made that trip in 1996 (yeah i know, im old).

From Bari to Patras, we travelled with a cargo ship. Some truck drivers and me and my friend. Took 16 hours, one cafeteria on board, serving trucker-food. Slept in sofas in cafeteria. No room included.

The ship taking us from Patras to Bari was nicer. Restseats for interrailers. Bring your own food and drink, is my suggestion. Took 14 hours, if my memory serves me right.

Going from Patras to Athens:
slow train leaving 4 times a day or so. Beautiful scenery along the way. Try to stop by Olympos, the cradle of the Olympics. Stunning.

enjoy, soon you'll be working 10 hours a day, then returning home for 8 hours of "homework". 10 years later you wake up, remembering the italian ladies and greek mistresses.. sigh..
