Ok, heres the dilemna. My flight goes from Ho Chi Minh City on the 27th June to Bangkok, but i don't fly on to the uk until 7th July. I don't want to spend that time hanging around in Thailand. So where do i go that's cheap, and i don't need to arrange a visa.

I've looked at AirAsia and Malaysia (KL), Kota Kinabalu look good, the philippines is also an option. I'm not sure 9 days is enough for Malaysia, but then i think 9 days might be too long for KK.

Any ideas/suggestions..........?

How about Loas? You can get the visa on arrival. Luang Prabang is very nice and interesting. You can visit the Pak Ou Caves and some villages along the Mekong. And the "plain of jars."

Burma is would be my #1 choice and 9 days would be perfect, but you need to arrange a visa before arrival.

Hey Dave, since you've never been to Angkor Wat, why don't you go there? You could spend a few days there and see one of the top sights in the World. I didn't realize you had never been there.

In 1 word: RAIN (just a guess)[/quote]

Though the season is rainy but Rain not yet started. Other hand, in Bangladesh the rain does not creat any problem to travellers.

Hi Dave,

There are alot of things you can do while in KK. If you are into sports you might wanna consider white water rafting or even climbing Mt Kinabalu? Islang hopping might be a nice option too but i must say they are not as great as some island in Thailand unless you go to Sipadan where diving is fantastic!

Otherwise Rainforest Music Festival in Kuching might be worth considering as i heard it's a blast! Kuching is a very nice place too!

Hope this helps!

Definitely go to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. You can get a bus right out of Bangkok (tours) and they take care of your visa on arrival. Check around for good rates.

I live in Bangkok and also have a place in Khao Lak, Phang Nga. The Andaman See side is nearing its monsoon season. Seas are rough, but if you are an adventurist, the go trekking in the rain.

Also, you are not far from Myranmar (Burma) by bus from Bangkok. Take the bus ride and visit...but keep your money hidden and in your pocket. Even the children there panhandling have been placed there by the local malitia. Burma is a military regime and your donated coins have been known to buy bullets.

You can take a cheap flight (www.nokair.com) to the north and enter Loas and visit this country as well. Bangkok seems to be only about 1-2 hours from anywhere in SE Asia. A great jumping off point.

Have fun...and when in Bangkok, give me a ring and we'll have a beer!
