How light can you travel?

Travel Forums Europe How light can you travel?

Hello, I'm going to Munich and then the Greek island of Corfu next week. I'd like to travel as light as possible. How little could you get away with on a trip like this during this time of the year?

one regular sized back pack (no need for those ultra large travel packs). i travelled through France, Munich, and Italy during this time of year last year, and got by on a back pack. I washed clothes every other day in a sink.

Hmmm, washing clothes in a sink sounds like a good idea. Did you just use regular soap? How did you dry them?

You can bring your own soap. You can just carry laundry soap (powdered) in a ziploc baggie. Wash them and hang them to dry in the bathroom of your hotel. They should dry by the next day. I haven't personally done this, but my sister's (ex-)mother-in-law does this all the time.

i had a very tiny little container that i filled with laundry detergent. I ran out of it, and just used hotel shampoo for the rest of the trip. No problems at all.

As long as you are willing to wash your own clothes, you should pack the same whether you are traveling for 2 weeks or 2 months. as long as it is all within the summer season.

Grant, where exactly are you going in Corfu? I was there last summer and I am surprised you will visit it, because it isn't so famous destination

It sounds like drying clothes that could be a pain. Does using a washer and dryer get expensive?

I picked Corfu for a few reasons. It's the most northwestern Greek island which is the direction I'm coming from. That should be good for charter plane fare but we'll see. Also it has:

which is supposed to be a very good time. It's also supposed to be more laid back than the more famous ones which sounds good to me. I may hop around from there though.
