Hi There
Im from NZ and just moved to Calgary...I dont know many people over here and I really wanna travel around.
Am going to Banff next week and am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a great horse trek in banff?

Any other recommendations of places to visit things to do? We are going on a grizzly bear tour when we get there...but quite often tourists have some great ideas or know of little nooks and crannies that the tourist companies over look.

Thanks in advance...also anything within and around calgary would be great for short trips on days off!!! To keep me sane!! This weather is depressing!!!

The best place for a horse trek is this one.
http://www.horseback.com/ . It was great!

The Banff Gondola that goes up Sulfur mountain is fun. Actually you
can walk up there (takes 1 1/2 - 2 hours) and then take the gondola
down for free.http://www.banffgondola.com/ Then there is the Banff
Hot Springs. That is a great way to relax after a day of hiking. http://www.pc.gc.ca/regional/sourcesthermales-hotsprings/visit/banff_E.asp

Then there is Lake Minnewanka. It is a nice place to visit and on a
hot day the beach is fun to go to. The water is COLD but crystal
clear. I haven't been a boat trip but it might be interesting. http://www.minnewankaboattours.com/
Before you get to the lake there
is a cool waterfall off of Cascade Mountain. http://www.wildnatureimages.com/BNP%20Banff%203.htm
You can park and
walk up it a bit to the base of the waterfall, it is really nice. The
airport (grass strip) is to the left of the picture.

I do recommend Johnson's Canyon if you are going to see only one
thing. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America/Canada/Province_of_Alberta/Banff_National_Park-911385/Things_To_Do-

Oh, go to Lake Louise (1/2 hour drive from Banff). The
hotel and the lake is awesome. http://www.fairmont.com/lakelouise/
There is TONS of hiking around there too.

Hope this helps Kelz! :)
