Yes they do have the hop on, hop off (double decker) buses.
A fair bit of central London can also be seen on foot, if you so desire or more to the point the weather is kind Buckinham Palace, Parliament Buildings, Westminster Abbey, St Pauls, Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, Tower of London, Wax Museum etc.

Hampton Court Palace is a good 1/2 day trip, get a train from Waterloo to Hampton Court (35mins) & spend 2-3 hours wandering.

Covent Garden is just in the center of the city, quite a nice area, full of restaurants and lovely coffe bars.

Greenwich is not far away either. YOu can take the train or the underground.

I loved Covent Garden and Portobello Market (not far from Notting HIll).

I had a few hours to kill by myself in London, so I walked down to the Thames around Westminster Abbey, then took the boardwalk along the river as far as the Tower of London (my feet were KILLING me!). There was a lot to see along the way: Westminter Abbey and the Jewel Tower, Parliament, St. Paul's, the London Eye, the Aquarium, London Bridge, the Tower of London, etc. It didn't cost me a penny (or a pound) and I got to see most of what I was hoping to see.

the best way to see london is on the tour bus, but if time isnt a problem, use the tube to different places and spend time at each one.

Highly recommend the Tower of London!

Also check the times for the Changing of the Guards, thats not to be missed either.
