Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Silly question- shoes for Inca Trail?!

This thread is marked as being about Peru

This is a bit of a minor question, but I am planning to do the 4 day Inca Trail on 25th July and was just wondering what shoes you would advise to wear?! We are 3 girls travelling through Peru, Brazil, Uraguay and Argentina and we want to bring as little as possible. Being girls the shoes we bring are causing us problems!!

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Thanks, Caroline

Hello Caroline:
I suggest hiking shoes, you don't need boots, it are too heavy to carry around. It's dry season, so you don't need special water-proof gortex shoes, just regular and comfortable hiking shoes or runners. I suggest to wear it at home if you are gonna by brand new ones, nothing worse than hike with brand new shoes.
