I found this on a card in a shop in Russell, New Zealand. See if doesn't bring tears to your eyes:
If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it. People would walk around it, marvelling at its big pools of water, its little pools and the water flowing between the pools. People would marvel at the bumps on it, and the holes in it, and they would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas. The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball, and at the creatures in the water. The people would declare it sacred because it was the only one, and they would protect it so that it would not be hurt.
The ball would be the greatest wonder known, and people would come to pray to it, to be healed, to gain knowledge, to know beauty and to wonder how it could be. People would love it, and defend it with their lives because they would somehow know that their lives, their own roundness, could be nothing without it.
If only the Earth were a few feet in diameter...
Yep, you've got me in tears.
If the earth was as the card said, someone would steal it. Well, I would anyway
Unbelievable! What is the name of that shop? I never find any card with such 'a considerable number of text' in one card!
I wonder if there is any shop in this world would listen to your own 'words' and 'stamp' it on the card you've chosen (please do not mention the lazer printer with high quality images produced...).
How sad that those words are true
(and everyone keep light-fingers James away from it! )
Lee? If you can't do it with the lazer printer (like with Vistaprint.com) I am not sure I understand what you mean?
You can choose different sizes, it doesn't have to be business card size...or are you talking about something totally different?
Yes, totally different, Cupcake. It would be 100% hand-made : wood-carved card for an instance
But if it was a wood-carved card, then it possibly could be quarantined if you tried to take into New Zealand with you
If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter...
I like that. People would protect it and declare it sacred because any harm or damage done to it would be so immediate. In this larger world that we live in; without that sense of immediacy, the consequences of some of our actions can become less relevant and therefore are ignored or we don't try to deal with them until it's too late.

I feel that way about the earth too, but what you said...could be said of many things
