Well Ive gone and done it now, after years of thinking about it I have gone out and bought my around the world ticket on my own!

My itinery is as follows:

17th Feb London to Cape Town then overland to Johannesburg

10th Mar Johannesburg to Bangkok then overland to Singapore

31st Mar Singapore to Perth then overland to Sydney (working visa)

18th Aug Sydney to Christchurch then overland to Auckland (working visa)

3rd Jan Auckland to Fiji

18th Jan Fiji to LA then overland to New York

16th Feb back home to London

Dates are approximate and not sure whether to have christmas and new year in Auckland or Fiji

So there you go, all I need now is help to get prepared. So if you have any ideas of hostels to stay in, stories, experiences, comments please help!

Also if planning on going to any of these places during this time join in and lets start planning the fun!! :)

Hi Hidi,

Welcome to TP! ( I can't think of any other new speech, can I?)

What a fantastic RTW's voyage! I guess you must be planning it since a couple of months ago, right?

In short, you'll find lots of helpful info in our 'Regional Travel Forums' - 6 main continents (Europe, Asia, North America...) consist a collection of threads which enable you to go through one by one according to your needs.

You may start a new thread and even message to our Travel Helpers for further information.

Hope you enjoy our big family here,

Hi hidi,

Welcome to TP! Your trip sounds amazing... congratulations on your big, exciting decision! The only Chirstmas I spent away from home was in Auckland. It gets nice and summertime warm right on Christmas Day... although Christmas in Fiji sounds almost to good to be true...

As Lee mentioned, if you post specific questions in the regional forums, you'll be inundated with tonnes of helpful advice.

Thanks for the support!

Saving like mad at the mo but no serious cash is not an option. I figure enough to get me by in Africa and Asia and a fair back up but use working in Australia and new Zealand as a way of funding the rest of it.

Not guna be easy but oh well you only live once!!
