Hi, my name is Tim and I'm planning a trip from UK to South Africa travelling through France -Italy - Tunis - Libya - Egypt -Sudan - Kenya - Tanzania - Malawi - Mozambique - Zimbabwe - Botswana - Namibia - South Africa.
This is not an ad for paying passengers, it is my adventure and someone is welcome to come along paying for half fuel costs and their food. I am a 35 year old Australian with Oz and UK passports, I have 5 years experience in Africa and Australia as a tour guide, a qualified Toyota mechanic, self employed computer technician. We will travelling with a Japanese 4X4, camping in tents or cheap accommodation, guided by up-to date maps and modern GPS software with new laptop.
This trip is not for someone in a hurry, I plan to spend one to two years in a complete trip around Africa, taking maybe 4 to 6 months to arrive in South Africa.
Estimated costs for half fuel, food, drinks etc from UK to South Africa is about US$5-8,000 as diesel is quite cheap in most of Africa.
I am a friendly, happy person with a good sense of humour, the person should be similar and of ages from 18 to 30, male of female with a sense of adventure and honest.

I am planning to leave UK sometime in early August 2005. I am only looking for one person, but will take two if pushed. You do not have to do all the trip and I am willing to take people for short legs if wanted.
Please feel free to contact me via this site
Thanks for your time.... Tim

Hi Tim,
I am currently in Cape Town but heading back to UK in late July.
I will probably not be ready to head off early August but would be keen to keep in touch and maybe join up in September wherever you are. Unfortuately for you I am 37, but have a heart and humour far below my years. Last year I won the Scottish 1400cc Rally Championship,(paste the link below for a laugh) have run my own business, which I sold last Nov,have kept myself fit and happy for many years.
Time for an adventure, been reading too many Peter Moore books...

I regret listening to all the stories about not being able to make it to South Africa, which makes me all the more determined to do it now. I am back end July, could we meet and chat, I just need to know where you are living at the moment and I will pop down for a weekend and have a beer. That is, if i am not to old!!
Keep well
speak soon
Ali
