Tips:

Wear your bulkiest clothes on the plane, thus reducing the need to pack them.
Bring one pair of shoes (on your feet). A pair of sandals can be put in your carry-on. If you do need another pair of shoes, put socks and/or underware inside them when packing to maximize use of space.
Put clothes in the bag that your computer is in.

I don't think you need 1 Tshirt for every day. When travelling (not for work), I usually wear everything 2 days. So for 7 days, 3 Tshirts, 3 socks, 3 underwear instead of 7.

Unrelated to packing, but you should be careful with not taking the flight to Costa Rica. Usually if you don't take that flight, the airline is unlikely to allow you to take the return flight.

wow man, some very awesome tips, and yes, this will be only vacation so i probably dont need 1 tshirt/day, i'll try with 3 pair shorts, and instead of 7 day shirts, i'll go with 4

and thanks for the info on the "be careful with not taking the flight to Costa Rica." i will definately look into it before i buy my flight

if you are willing to compromise on your different shirt for every day requirement, i want to relate the story of a guy i met in malaysia, who had a very small backpack -- he had been travelling for more than a year already. in it he had 2 changes of clothes, which he washed every day in the sink, his camera, and some toiletries.

that was pretty impressive.

as far as laundry service goes, find a local and ask where they go when they need something washed. many countries have very cheap laundry services in small shops here and there.

Angela! That is an awesome site! It took me a couple of hours to read it all, but it sure sounds like he knows what he is talking about! Thank you! :)

I found it on my very extensive travels of the internet... It is mindboggling just how much stuff you can find online, useless and useful.
