I woke up this morning to my RTW tickets on my doorstep yippee my dream has just turned into reality!
I leave London on 17th February 2006 and my itinery is:
London to Cape Town then overland to Johannesburg
10th March Johannesburg to Bangkok then overland to Singapore
31st March Singapore to Perth then overland to Sydney (working visa)
18th August Sydney to Christchurch then overland to Auckland (working visa)
22nd December Auckland to Fiji for christmas and new year
4th January Fiji to LA then overland to New York
16th February NYC to London
Anybody planning anything similar or any advice gladly received!!
If you dont mind me asking ...
How long ago did you book?
Who did you book with?
Did they sort all your work visas out?
I booked last Friday and the tickets arrived this morning.
I booked directly through virgin atlantic as they run the escapade ticket anyway and were cheaper than going through a travel agent and were very helpful over the telephone.
I only have a working visa for Australia at the moment and you do that yourself online. Only takes 2 days to come through. From July 1st this will also be able to be done with the New Zealand visa. I wont be in New Zealand til August so I cant book that visa until August this year as you only have a year to get in from receipt. The New Zealand visa now runs for two years when in though so I can see a return trip coming on there!
The rest of the places I am staying in im not staying very long but I do need to check if I require any holiday visas but again easy to sort yourself. Makes it cheaper that way!
Hope this helps
Thats great, I went into STA travel at the weekend, they said they could sort the work visa for Oz for £80, but i had seen somewhere that you could do it online. Is there a charge for it? How much was your RTW ticket?
I paid £1270 for my ticket
Thanks Hidi, the ticket's about the same price with STA. Although Im still looking around for the best deal before i book (the further i can get the better!!)
me and my boyfriend booked our RTW ticket with Round the world flights, they were very helpfull and it was cheap. u can reach them on : www.roundtheworldflight.com we had to pay 1140GBP each. and we're going like this:
London-Shanghai overland Beijing-Kuala Lumpur-Melbourne-Christchurch overland Auckland-Fiji-Cook Islands-L.A
We're gonna be out for about 5 months..

I gave this itineary to Airtreks and they came back with an estimated cost of $9000 CAD...that is nuts..
So I noticed that the flight tickets are a lot cheaper in the UK. Does anyone know if we can book them from the UK? If i arrange my own flight to the UK and start the RTW flights from there, do you think it would be cheaper and can it work???
