Are these hop on or hop off bus tours worth the money to do? Any one have any feed back about them?

Thanks!

I have only taken one which was in London, but I thought it was very good and well worth the money. It had a live tour guide who was really informative and funny so we had a great time..

Where do you get it in London? How much does it cost? Could I use this to go to the British Museum, then see big Ben, Tower of London, etc..

I early August I'll have a 12 hours layover on my way from Amdterdam to India (form like 10am-10pm).

there are several companies - tickets around 12 pounds for a day can be bought from some hotel receptions or directly on the bus. They start from Speakers Corner/Marble Arch. Different routes.

When I went, I used a company called Big bus company. It covered all the most important places and you get a free river tour with your ticket. The ticket is 20 pounds.

Hey thanks for the link Angela! That should be perfect since I'll have the 10am-10pm London layover. Looks like I can just hang out on the bus and see the sights and get a guided tour, then get off when I want, then go somewhere else, etc.. Great way to spend the day.

Not cheap though. Just figured out how much 20/pounds is.

I used Bus About, have a look at their site
http://www.busabout.com/default.asp?action=article&ID=362

It was great, went to these cities on their buses & ventured to others on trains etc.. Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Berne, Strasbourg, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Vienna

It also gives you the opportunity to meet up with alot of like minded people. 2 options for accomodation is good too, hostel or budget hotel & sometimes even campground.

I really enjoyed taking the hop-on hop-off buses in Barcelona..
As for London, I heard that there is a public bus (# 11 ?) that takes the tourist route, catching all the same sites, but much more cheaply... Just a thought... :)
