That was my first thought!!! That, or she needed a new prescription for her glasses!

THANK YOU ALLISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A second card arrived and it has a great picture of the Festival Theatre on the Torrens River in Adelaide, South Australia!!!

We thought the "Sheila" card was quite sensible - we have learned several slang terms we didn't know before!
Is there swimming in the resevoir where you live? I'm jealous - all I have right now are puddles in the driveway since we finally got rain today. But, they are only "big toe" deep and the birds are taking full advantage of the temporary bathtub.
Oh, and I agree - each trip to the mailbox is like a mini-vacation when a post card arrives!!!

Thank you, Hien! What a gorgeous beach - I've got my bathing suit and a fancy-schmancy pair of matching sandals all packed and ready to go. I'll stop off to pick up some Pringles before I leave...

One can per flavor????? That will last for a whole Lunch Bunch chat session! Better consider a case of each flavor, T!!!! We don't want Hien running out so quickly!

THANK YOU ZINDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We arrived home from our mini-trip to Iowa and found another wonderful card in our postbox. This one has a great picture of the Barong's counterpart - the Rangda!!

Zags, the Rangda isn't quite as cool as the Barong - maybe it's because the Barong represents "good". But, now we having a matching set! Do they make the likenesses into salt and pepper shakers???? I collect those too - they would be soooooo cool to add to the collection. Just curious.....

I also picked up a few cards from Dubuque, Iowa........ ;)

THANK YOU LEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, my apologies for not posting this thank you on Friday, when your post card arrived. I kept it in the kitchen for Beerman to see and didn't bring it upstairs with me right away.

We did receive the aforementioned post card from Lee. It has three beautiful pictures of Butterfly Park in Kuala Kumpur. All three havve rickshaws in them and two show churches - the "red" one and the "yellow" one.

What is the Malaysian term for rickshaw?? That's the only term I know for the bicycle/carraiges. And, it's always nice to be able to spend time with friends!!!

WELCOME TO THE TP MEET-UP BY MAIL!!!!

We have been granted permission to sticky this thread!!! Yeah!!!
(A round of applause is heard throughout the Off Topic Forum...)

The response to the request for post cards has been great! And, those who have sent/received cards already, are being kind enough to post their comments and thank yous here. So, in that spirit - I asked if we could highlight this thread. Anyone interested in sending/receiving cards can "sign up", and then comment when cards have arrived. It will let everyone know the cards made it to their destinations and their efforts appreicated.

To avoid any liability problems (for TP and ourselves), there are a few simple rules... (Yes, there are always rules )

1) Sign-up within this thread is by name/username only.
2) No personal addresses can be posted in the thread.
3) Exchange of addresses must be done though PMs and/or regular e-mail.
4) Please acknowledge receipt of post cards.
5) A thank you is always appreciated.
6) Be kind - this is meant to be fun for everyone and a way to get to know each other better. (And see the world from a different perspective!)

Thank you all for the great response so far! I hope we will continue to get more members involved and load up those refrigerator doors with post cards!

I'm "quoting" this from page 5 just so newer members (and Peter) viewing this thread know what's going on here and how to get involved with they wish to do so.

Pete - see "rules #4 & #5"!! Like the "pirate's rules of parley", they are more guidelines than actual rules - but, if you really would like that spanking...

[ Edit: Previewed it first and still screwed it up! ]
