We have received 4 more post cards!!! Jun's (Summer) is of the Kwan Im Temple in Singapore! Steff's os a picture of Flamenco dancers in Spain! Dave's is Siem Reap (Smiling in Bayon) in Cambodia and Ev's is of Bunratty Castle in Co. Clare, Ireland!!!

Jun - Maybe we should make a visit to the temple so we can gain a fortune and be able to do more traveling!!!

Steff - The costumes are gorgeous, but the people (themselves) look rather like exhibits in a wax museum!

Dave - Glad you are enjoying Ankor Wat! Settle down soon because the post cards ready to send to you are piling up quickly!!!

Ev - Is that little castle for sale??? It would make a nice little getaway cottage for a few months a year! (That is, after we visit the temple by Jun and make our fortune!) ;)

Thanks again to all of you who have sent us post cards!!!! I have had to start a scrapebook but I'm not complaining!!!!!!! I also have several to send!!! Just have to get them in the mail and I promise I will this week!!

Jason - four are on the way to your class - Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Chicago (specifically). I hope your students will enjoy them!!!

THANK YOU NOELIA AND ZINDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We received a card from Noe in St. Catharines, Ontario, with a picture of the famous Niagara grapes! Also, two from Zindy in Indonesia with pictures of the Koteka - one of the item itself, and one picturing young Yali warriors adorned with traditional costumes - including the kotekas.

Noe - I knew they grew grapes (love a Niagara white wine a local winery produces - hints of sweet green apple - yum)!! But, I didn't know peaches were grown there! Apple and pears I knew about also. Isn't it a bit north for peaches???

Zindy - the koteka is pretty cool looking alone - but it looks rather painful the way the young warriors have them positioned!!! But, they look happy enough... ;)

You're welcome! ;)

... and huh... yeah it's quite surprising, but if the weather is hot enought for planting vine, it's good for peaches and pears too. (The winter is not as long as in Montreal in the Niagara region...)

Hey all! Starting to get quite a few postcards from all over. Got our first card from New Zealand today! In addition, today we got Quebec, Miami, San Antonio, Grand Teton Nat'l Park, Netherlands and Dallas! :):)
I thought I'd give you all a better glimpse of what I'm doing with these wonderful treasures that are being sent to us. I have a HUGE wall map. We have a Postcard Projec t Center. There kids get to check out the postcards, find the country, state, or city from a few great atlases I've purchased, color in their group's world map, find out three things they didn't know about the place (from the atlases, the postcards and the internet), draw a visa (mainly the country's/state's flag) in the group passports and compile data from the information we recieve (age, occupation, place) to add to our charts on the wall. Soon, we'll start writing Thank You cards to those that post their addy's on the cards. This has truly become a HUGE project. And with your help this will ignite a fire in their hearts and create a passion for their world!
I just want you to know we're doing sooo much more than just basking in the warmth of recieving these cards and reading them. The kids are truly working for these cards!!!!
Isadora~ Thank you for the 4 postcards! Looking forward to getting them. You are going to put a HUGE smile on a lil boy's face! He has family in Wisconsin and has been asking daily if we've got one from there yet. He's got a tough home life and I know this card will truly lift his spirits. If there's anyone from Kansas, I've got another student that is obsessed with that state as well:)

Anyhow all, thank you sooooooooo much!!!!
PS: Just booked my vacation for my month off during the winter. THe winner is Egypt. 3.5 weeks!! And Ancient Egypt is part of our curriculum at this grade. perfect!!!Perhaps I can write it off!
