We´re on our way down through Brazil at the minute which is great, and we´re just looking a few weeks ahead to our time in Argentina. It looks like we will have about 2 1/2 weeks to get from Mendoza to Buenos Aires.
Does anyone have any recommendations for Mendoza, Cordoba, Rosario or anwhere along that sort of route?
Thanks a million!
Be very interested in the same - will be flying into Rio and then overland down to BA... thoughts??
We´re in Porto Allegre now, but haven´t had the chance to look about much here yet.
So far Rio was fantastic, you need at least a week there, can thoroughly recommend www.riohostel.com, great location for samba bars in lapa, the guys are very cool there and it´s great not to be staying in copacabana with the masses.
We headed to Ilha Grande after that, again, fantastic, beautiful beaches that you hike to through the jungle, it´s a 2 hr bus from rio and then a ferry over.
We then went to Sao Paulo which to be honest wasn´t great, after seeing all that the city centre has to offer there is little else, it´s a city for workers really as the locals told us, i wouldn´t rush back.
Then we did Curitiba as a stop off on the way to Foz do Iguacu. Curitiba was cool for a day, but prob no more. And Foz, well, it´s a must, whatever your route is. Can recommend the Paudimar hostel out of town on the way to the brazillian falls. There were a few robberies on the buses while we were there but just be careful. Apart from the falls there isn´t much in the towns, it´s worth a trip over to paraguay for a look at the markets, also the Itaipu dam is quite impressive.
