sus-smiles has indicated that this thread is about Micronesia

Has anyone been to the Caroline Islands? My boyfriend was a prosurfer who keeps hearing about the amazing surf and wants to start planning a trip there. Does anyone, either surfer or nonsurfer, have any info on these islands? Thanks! Sus

It's in Micronesia, not Australia. I have heard of them and they sound lovely. Unfortunately, the only place I've been in Micronesia is Pohnpei (and some of the neighbouring atolls). Well, actually, I may have touched down at the Carolines briefly, but I can't remember exactly. I could ask my dad for some info, he may have been there as he has seen a bit more of Micronesia.

Ok, asked my dad and it turns out I have actually been to the Caroline Islands, as Pohnpei is included! It is basically a very large group of islands in Micronesia, stretching more or less from Pulau on one side to Pohnpei on the other. See this map. Do you have any idea of which island in particular the surf is good at, as the region is quite large? The waves didn't seem particularly exciting where I was in Pohnpei at least and I definitely didn't see any surfers.

My planning is very preliminary, but the only real info I can find is that greatest break is call P-Pass and it's located about 2 miles off of the coast of one of the 200 islands...which I have yet to find a name for. The information I'm finding is from a surf camp located on one of these islands. I'll keep you all posted as I find more info. :-) Sus

Hi Sus,

Intrigued, I did little more research. The P-Pass is in fact part of the Senyavin Island group, which is basically Pohnpei + two tiny atolls off the coast. The Pohnpei Surf Club seems to be where you would end up.

I have been to Pohnpei a couple of times, so if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help :)
