Just got back from Japan and China less than a month ago. Do not drink the water in China. Always get bottles water and if you are out, do not get ice either. Even brush your teeth with the bottles water. I had a few of my travel mates get very sick.

Hot green tea was fine, because it's boiled, other than that....bottles only.

general advice... bottled water. singapore & japan's tap water is clean. watch out for india as mentioned in other previous mails. even bottled water with seals may be refilled from unhygenic sources

be aware that in some places bottles might be re-filled by the seller - watch for the broken seal.

So in other words, unless I want to be projectile spewing from various orifices, I am better off purifying and bottling my own water.

yes, but you are still going to eat meals, fruits, use ice cubes, icecreams.
