apeman has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

I have a quandary. My wife to be and I are going on our honeymoon in November and there is no doubt that we want to go to Thailand. We are spending the first week on a culture-fest and will spend the second week at a beach resort. Our first thought was Pattaya, being in the North it is less prone to rainfall in Novemeber. But clearly Phuket and Koh Samui are nicer resorts (unless your after a sh*g, not that we are prudes). But these resorts are particular prone to rain in November. So nicer resort, bigger risk. What is your advice please (maybe Hua Hin, but is it too quiet?)

Hi apeman,
Phuket is a mixed bag. Patong is tacky and busy, but there are nicer areas in the south and east.
Choose wisely.
Koh Samui may be the best bet.

I hope you will be in North Thailand for the Loi Krathong Festival in mid Nov. For the island of Samui is a bit crowded after everyone bailing out of Phuket because of the Tsunami. A more quiet and beautiful island is Koh Chang and the surrounding islands. Lots of things to do or you can just do nothing.

Thanks for the replies.

We travel on the 13th and will be in the North until the 19th so hopefully will catch the festival.

Koh Chang sounds great and we are really looking forward to seeing some great scenery but I worry that it might be too quiet. Really we're looking to chill out and get some sun in the day but will be restless for some music in the evening - live bands, discos etc.

try Krabi. it's not overly commercialised and quieter compared to Phuket & Koh Samui

If you plan to be in Chiang Mai for the Loi krathong Festival book you transportation and hotel or resort in Chiang Mai NOW. The best places will be fully booked shortly if not already.
