aii... I thought for sure that would do the trick.. oh well, back to the drawing board.
Thanks to this thread though, I have found another error where basically anyone starting a new thread (whether they have it ticked or not) is subscribed automatically - changing that little error right away. Thanks Rich for the comment on that one!
I noticed that I was automatically subscribed to threads that I had posted in. If I didn't want to be subscribed, I clicked the link to unsubscribe. I did want to be subscribed to a lot of them, though. Would this automatic subscribing problem have affected the notification problem?
nah, it wouldn't have really affected it, but it is fixed now either way.. There is a more major problem going on with the mail server I think. I checked the undeliverable mail folder and it has about 3000 messages in it!!! That's not good Anyway, it's obviously high on the priority list!
3000 messages undelivered? Good luck to sorting the problem as soon as possible before they mount up any further.
Curious though why at the top of the thread as i'm replying it says "Notification... Afghanistan". I must admit I can't really see a connection between this string and Al Quaida unless it's terrorists hijacking the the notification posts!
Well, I don't have a subject that says, "Notification . . . Afghanistan" at the top of this . . ..
But I did recieve quite a few notifications to threads I've subscribed to in my email inbox today. So hopefully that means it is fixed
Hey Steph, the host is dealing with the mail problem -- not sure if he managed to resolve it, although we had to restart the server after it crashed under the load this morning (considering we're the only thing on the server pretty much, it means this site is getting VERY busy!). This may have fixed the mail thing, dunno..
The thread says Afghanistan, probably because you accidentally selected Afghanistan in the country dropdown -- it's high on the list of course..
Speaking of those 3000 messages... I used to get a lot more messages returned into my inbox when they weren't deliverable; probably at least 30 more a day than now so maybe that is where the 3000 come from. Might even be more than that, I must say I have been amazed not to have more emails coming in lately...
I remember some changes were made to a script run on the mail server about a month ago and maybe that is the reason considering this has never really been a problem before then???
