Sander has indicated that this thread is about Australia

Will be skipping off to Adelaide for a long weekend this coming weekend to hang out with friends. Will have about a day to explore to city on my own. Haven't read my Lonely Planet yet (will do so on the bustrip there), but any recommendations for what to do / what to absolutely not miss seeing?

I've only been to Adelaide once, when I was young so don't remember much.

Apparently the city centre is quite small, so you could spend a days walking around and i'm sure you will see some interesting things.

A friend went there and visited the HAIGH chocolate factory...I'm not sure how close that is to the city, see: http://www.haighs.com.au/dir29/ws.nsf/Publish/135?OpenDocument. Hope that was some help!

hey,

the barossa valley region just out of adelaide is well-renowed for its wine- may be well worth a visit. i don't know much else about adelaide but try this website url=http://www.adelaide.southaustralia.com/home.asp]

Hi! Sander, regarding what to do in Adelaide for a day,I would suggest going to the Central Bus Station in Franklin Street and doing a half day bus tour which will give you a quick over-view of My town. It will take you to all the sightseeing spots. Afterwards, you could walk around the city itself, everything is contained in a square mile.North terrace is where you will find the museum, art gallery etc, Rundle Mall has all the shops. We have lots of eating places everywhere,in every price range and every cuisine.Adelaide is a friendly city,a bit cold at the moment, but with any luck the rain will stay away.If you wish to go a bit further afield, The same bus station would have a range of trips to enjoy,ie Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills region,Victor Harbour, all within easy reach. I hope this gives you a few ideas and that you enjoy your week-end in Adelaide.Best wishes Ali G.
