Jeff,

I can't wait to hear what Ladakh is like. I can't wait to see India full stop.

Do you have any idea if you have to arrange your VISA for India before you leave home, or if its possible to organise en route?

Thanks,
Ev;)

Hey Folks,
Mackinacky your trip is pretty similar to mine.
Leaving the 30th Aug for Thailand-Laos-Cambodia-Vietnam-Hong Kong-Oz-NZ-Chile-Argentina-Bolivia-Peru.
I know that you get your tourist visas for all of SE Asia at the border when entering the countrys except for Vietnam which takes 4 days and we're getting in Bangkok.
The visas for Oz/NZ depend on whether you're working there or not.I'll be working in NZ and my visa is being processed USIT sorted out my my OZ tourist visa.
All of SA should be fine.
This is all info that I got off this site, I'd be lost without it.
Enjoy:)
Might see you over there.

Hi Ev,

You can arrange the India visa in route at an Indian embassy, but you must already have a visa before you arrive in India. If you won't be finished with India until 6 months from when you leave Ireland, then that's the way to do it. When you take the passport into the embassy, if person, you should be able to get it back quicker.

Really excited about Ladakh! I'll be sure to report back.

So when are you going to be leaving Ireland?

Thanks Jeff! I'm leaving Ireland in January now (it was supposed to be October, but Ive had to push the date back a few months). India was actually going to be the first major stop, but I'm getting more and more apprehensive about going there first alone - I'm afraid that I'll get off the plane in Bombay, get severe culture shock, and end up turning around and coming home.

So, I'm going in reverse - West instead of East - and I'm going to leave India until last now. I think it's wiser for lots of reasons. I think its important to start a rtw trip with something that seems more "manageable" in my head, and not be overly ambitious.

Anyway, wont hijack the thread with my travel plans. Thanks for the info on the visa for India...i was wondering if I could organise that in somewhere like China.....

Ill be looking fwd to seeing your pics J;)
