Go for it 100%!!!!I ended up doing my RTW trip alone after my friend cancelled on me last minute!!!!I had the most fanatsic time...you dont have to compromise with anyone, you gte to meet a zillion more people than you would if you are with someone and its an overall much more challenging experience to go it alone!Ive travelled both alone and with mates and I have to admit I loved the feeling of being on my own!!!(Sorry Daniel if youre reading this, you know I had a fab time when I was with you and cant wait for India, just giving the bigger picture!)
Anyway, dont hang around waiting for your friend, I did that and ended up with a mad stressful rush at the end before I went!Go, have fun!Itll be amazing!

I think traveling alone is the way forward, mate. Think of all the good bits - not having to compromise, not having to pretend to have a good time because it might hurt someone else's feelings, planning your time to suit you (sounds selfish, but its such an exhilirating feeling!) and if you're worried about feeling lonely, a good book and your trusty MP3 player will be there to keep you company if you ever fall short of people to talk to. But you'll be so busy thinking of what to do next and planning the next day, you wont even notice!

But you know what? I notice that people tend to want to chat with you if you're alone versus if you're with a couple of mates.

You're gonna have a brilliant time!

Yeah Its always better to travel alone as you don,t have to compromise with anyone but sometimes in the cold nights and some beautiful place the heart always longs for someone to whom you can share the moment. Its always a 50-50 situation.

A late reaction

But GO FOR IT!

I don't have any world travel stories, I just have been on my own for a few weeks, traveling trough Europe. Leaving my parents, was sooo scary, I realised in a few seconds that if I would get killed, it would take 3 or 4 days, before anyone would miss me.
But after that, it was great, I never felt really lonely, the only thing I must say, it's strange being confronted with yourself every day and not being able to hide for yourself.

And I must agree with everyone else here, it so much easier, speaking to other people when you are on your own.

Have been solo travelling on this trip for nearly two weeks now. In South America, and it can be tiring because you are constantly on high alert about your bags, your passport, your wallet...you can never fully let your guard down.

Things have been going great so far, have met a LOT of really interesting people, and have found myself being much more bold about approching strangers than I would at home.

Yesterday was a great day, met up with two Irish girls and spent the day hanging out with them, and then suddenly for no reason at all I woke up this morning and felt REALLY homesick. I really miss my dog No idea what brought it on, but am having a low day today. Have just checked out of my hotel and its 12 a.m. - I have to wait 10 hours until I can get my bus on to the next city, so having all that time to sit around thinking isnt helping.

I need a hug.

On the upside though, there are major advantages to travelling by yourself. So far, I have really enjoyed being able to set my own pace, spending as much time as I want somewhere. I can chat to people when I need to and be myself when I prefer that. People are very interested in the fact that you are unaccompanied - it seems to be a good conversation starter. :)

There's a big hug coming your way, Ev! Everybody is feeling homesick sometimes, but that's only human. And as soon as you get to another city things will be all different as you will be meeting a bunch of new people ;)
