Hello!

We (my girlfriend and I) are planning a trip to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam this summer (i know its early, but i cant stop dreaming about it ) and i have a few questions.

All three countries: Did anyone had any problems with bringing photo films inside? I heard that sometimes one has to bribe a customs officer, I never did that, so how do u do it? I was thinking about bringing at least 20 films with me, do you think that is too much?

The cheapest way of getting there from Europe is by flying to Bangkok and then with a bus (or by plane?) to Cambodia. Is that correct?

Do we need a Visa for all three countries? I know that we need it for Vietnam...

Laos:
On lonely planet online:

i read, that there are dangerous areas around Vientiane (armed banditry). Did anyone had any problems?

This is our first time out of the Western world, so Thank you very much for any other tips.

Mitja

One more question:

How much money does one spent per day there? Including everything (museums, rides etc.), basically the sum of the money you spent divided by number of days.

Thanks

To Vietnam you need Visa, roughly $50-65, can be obtained with form from Vietnamese embassy on the net. Laotian visa, can be obtained when you get to the border (used to be $50). Cambodian Visa, as shown below, cost $20, and also obtained on arrival. Make sure you bring a whole bunch of passport pictures (2x2 in.). If you sent for the Vietnamese visa, eventhough they ask for original copy of your passport, send them a photo copy. I wouldn't send my original passport, not even to my mother.

You can check this site for further visa question on entering Laos. It is from the Laotian embassy in Washington DC.
