Complete freaking idiots. They're deranged and all deserve to die. I'm not usually the "violence is the answer" type of person, but I do think they all just need to be blown up. That goes for saddam hussien too.

I am not always an eye for an eye....it doesn't solve anything, it just perpetuates it...but if someone in my family were killed..I am sure I would feel differently.

Quoting SkacoreUK

Again, apologies are in order for my (perhaps) mixed messages, and wavering point....I am still trying to figure the situation out in my head...

Well certainly talking about it helps to formlate your ideas and bring them all together. I write and talk a lot about the current situations so it has helped bring things into perspective. I hope it works for you as well. :)

As far as your quote on religion being the problem, I am going to have to disagree.

Religion is not the problem, in general religions preach love and forgiveness and as we see here there is short supply of that in the world. In other words, religions, idiologies, theories, sciences, mantras etcetera are not the problem - it comes down to the human mind. All problems arise in the mind, therefor we must first master our minds then go from there.

More than those who hate you, more than all your enemies, an undisciplined mind does greater harm.

Like Cupcake said - if her family was killed she would have a hard time taking the peaceful stance. This is a mind state as well. If we can realise that we are apart of everyone and everyone is apart of us we would be able to keep a clear picture of the world. Imagine if you will that all of the children in the world were your children, if so would you change some things in your life at that insite?

Brenden, what I must say is Thank you for your views; as you and other TP members can see, I and summer are only a few from Eastern to give our opinions...mostly people who gave their views are (don't get this meaning wrong)westerners and aside reading from every post in this thread since the 1st page, I just find out that many of you are totally different from the angle I see and value; yesterday I invited a few friends ( Malay, Chinese and Indian with diferent religions and some are free-thinkers) to view these thread and we all agreed that Brenden's statement is among us the most general (neutral) and obviously he sees thing quite holistically (it's a compliment).

I am not religious person and I do not have any religion in my mind but somehow I understand there's a buddhism value : 慈悲 /Chi-bei/. This word couldn't be directly translated into english as it has many values and insights behind this word. If anyone of you could spare time to find what this word is all about, trust me, you'll learn something simply from this word! Brenden has this value (maybe he knows this meaning... and another compliment!)

Seriously, this is the first thread with serious discussion and I just love it since I joined TP in March. At least now, from all these discussion, I could understand every of us better and this is a good sign.

More than those who hate you, more than all your enemies, an undisciplined mind does greater harm.

Yes what I would like to express in my several previous posts!!! Thanks again! Really hope all of us would study the above quote and learn it by heart.

yes, he is unwelcomed even by his own people. But did you find any peacefulness return to Iraq? Did you find your leader is getting to losing his supporters, why? Did you know how many people died in Iraq, US soldiers and others because of such a single thought 'blow them up'? Did you find the reason why Saddam Hussien could get such enormous influence and power? Did you know what is in Iraqis mind the moment they know they would have another war again and again?

Go and find the answers if you want to know it. Humans are gifted with brain and hearts and multi-senses for us to value! Even my students at the age of 9 realized blowing them up is not the best solution, what about the elder ones like us?

This is a very personal thing for me, thats why I said discussing religion was a bad idea.

I wan't to let this one go....

67. Posted by mim (Travel Guru 1276 posts) 11y

and the phrase "you should never discuss politics or religion with friends" is a well known one in England,
because it causes friction,

and it has caused friction.

and right now, this situation is making me way to sad ,to talk like this, about it.
