Hi everyone!!

I am going to Greece in August and my plane arrives at 2am in the morning, so I was planning on hanging around in the airport in Athens until the buses start running, but I am not sure if it would be ok to do this as it would be for about 6 hours??

Also, could anyone advice me on where to get a bus ticket to Kefalonia? Do you know a company that I could book in advance with? Anyone know the quickest route by bus&ferry from athens to kefalonia (poros port)??? Or if you have any advice in general about Greece it would be very helpful?!!

Many thanks, Shana ;)

I would suggest getting the metro from Athens to the main port Piraeus and then getting a ferry from there to Kefallonia. Can't quite remember where you get the metro tickets from (although do have a vague recollection that you can purchase them at any newspapaer stalls) and the ferry tickets can be purchased on the day at the port no problem.

Alternitavely you can get a bus from Athens A terminal to Argostoli (via Poros on the ferry).

I think the quickest way is to get a bus to Patra, and then a ferry from there - it's on the right side of the peninsula.

The airport in Athens isn't a terrible place to spend a few hours - there are 24 hour coffee shops and snack bars - and I don't think ending up in central Athens at 3pm is that great an idea.
