In San Diego, visit the ZOO (it's one of the best in the World). Also Balboa Park (the Zoo is in Balboa Park), La Jolla (the cove), maybe Old Town to eat some mexican food, and the Gas Lamp Quarter, downtown, at night.

The Grand Canyon (you can visit the North Rim form Vegas or the South Rime form Arizona). Also, in Arizona, see the Crater, Painted Desert, & Petrified Forest.

For Vegas, see the thread entitled "Things to do in Vegas?" on page 2 of this forum.

In Mexico, make sure you get Mexican auto insurance--otherwise leave your car in the parking lot at the border. Across the border in Tijuana is a tourist area, and then a regular downtown area. Go to the one you prefer (I prefer the regular, personally). If you go to the tourist area, it's worth visiting the jai alai games on Revolution Avenue in Tijuana.

If you do get Mexican insurance, take the toll road south to Rosarita (about 40 kilometres south) for the fun times. There's also a Fox Studios just south of Rosarita where they filmed both "Titanic" and "Master and Commander"--and it has its own small amusement-type park that features stuff from different movies made there. Also just a little ways farther south is Puerto Nuevo--a miniature town with 16 lobster restaurants and a small shopping village. If you go all the way down to Ensenada (150 kilometres), there's a large town with lots of clubs and a "blowhole" on the coast south of town that shoots water 200 feet up in the air. Also the ocean fishing here is the best almost anywhere.

Enjoy.

Mesa Verde in SW Colorado is also great to visit. And Bryce Canyon and Arches National park in Utah. Everything posted here so far should keep you happy & busy!

How long is your road trip going to be?

San Diego= take the trolley so you can see all the interesting parts and get of the trolley, visit, then get back on the next one.You get a day ticket and the driver is usually a very knowledgeable guide.
From S.Diego you take Interstate 8 to Phoenix and stay at Motel 6 on Camelback road in the best part of Phoenix Scottsdale/.
From Phoenix you take route 17 to Flagstaff(another Motel 6) while along the way you should visit Montezuma castle and Sedona(Oak creek canyon).
From Flagstaff you simply must visit the South side of the Grand canyon.
Then by Lake Powell up to the Bryce canyon(wonderful)and then to Zion nat.park.
Springdale is a nice place to stay just outside Zion.
Then you drive to Las Vegas. If you arrive there on a weekday try to stay in the Luxor hotel(you cant miss the pyramid). It's very affordable during weekdays.
Then you can return to San Diego and on to Mexico by way of Los Angeles.
Have a nice trip. Paul

Thanks everyone for the replies, i really appreciate it.

Im flying in to Phoenix to visit my friend in Scottsdale, then we're both doing the trip. We only have 2 weeks though so we'll only be spending a couple of days here and there. My friend will be driving.

I want to fit in as much as i can!!
Thanks

You brought back memories of a trip through that area about twelve years ago with a girl I was going to marry. We finally split up, and I'm glad we didn't get married, but I still have fond memories. Thank you.
