Anyone have any good and cheap options for hostels in either of these cities -> Venice and Zagreb?

Think places in Venice are quite expensive, but I stayed on a campsite about half an hour outside of the city. There was a direct shuttle bus to and from the site every half an hour into the city centre and you could either stay in a tent or rent a cabin. Seem to remember it being quite cheap, clean and with a pool too.

Probably the best options for hostel in Venice is

Ostello Venezia in San Marco. Its a HI hostel, so it tends to get booked up quite quickly. Good idea to book in advance, esp in summer months. Breakfast and sheets are included in the cost, and you can order meals as well for about €6-7.

€14 for the night, but this price might have gone up since i was there. The hostel has a curfew.

Another pretty cheap option, if you are travelling with other ppl, is to rent out a chalet in one of the campsites on the Lido.

Cant help on Zagreb, I'm afraid. ;)

ok Thanks! il check those out
what about this: Hotel Belvedere is located in Marghera. We are just a five minute walk from the city's main train station, Mestre

is this in a decent area? not too far from trainstation and center of town?

Hi Jeff

I stayed very close to the train station when I was in Venice and it was fine. Most of Venice felt quite safe, I found. My hotel (cant remember name of it now) was literally a stones throw from the Mestre and it didnt talk too long to walk to the main areas of San Marco, etc. (about 10-15 mins) Walking in Venice never feels too long anyway, because the streets are full of twists and turns and before you know it, you arrived at where you wanted to get to.

Hope that helps,
