I recently returned from a trip to New Zealand (Honeymoon) and got a speeding ticket on my way down from Christchurch to Queensland - There's a speed trap on that route but of course I didn't learn about it until I got to Queensland and a local told me that's where they get all the visitors.

I was going 120 km in a 100 km zone - To be honest, I wasn't looking at the speedometer and was just cruising along (there wasn't any traffic)and enjoying the scenery. Anyways, I didn't pay my ticket before I left and I recently received my first notice in the mail.

So here's my question - If I do not pay it? what's going to happen? any experience? predictions? all comments are welcome?

I know I should just pay the ticket but I really don't want too!

Philster,
On return to NZ you will be taken to a place of execution where you will have your neck stretched until you are dead. And may God have mercy on your soul.
The NZ cops are almost as fervent as the Saudi mutawa (religious) police, the intent being 'the Propogation Of Virtue And The Supression Of Vice'.
Slight exagerration!!!

Thanks Cobbana and I thought it was going to be something serious! Now that I know that's all they will do I guess I can toss the ticket javascript:insertAtCursor(document.Form.Message, '');

Seriously - NZ cops have been great. On our nights out in the cities we have run into a few - they are generally there just walking the beat - making sure all is okay.

They even helped us find our hostel when we'd had a bit too much to drink
