When I was 17 years old, I started living on my own and began my 7-year journey of being a dirt-poor student. My boyfriend at the time was also a dirt-poor student living in another city. We used to save up money all week just to ride the long-distance bus every weekend to see one another. I knew how much he loved going to restaurants, so I used to eat nothing but tea biscuits for a whole week just to save up enough money to take him to a (cheap) restaurant. But I wouldn't have enough for 2 people, so we just ordered one dish and shared. A few times, at the end of a weekend together, my boyfriend gave me $2 and said, "Here, Baby, go buy yourself some milk. You need to eat better." I thought (and still think) that it was the sweetest and the most romantic thing anybody had ever done for me. We were so young but so in love...

I like that one a lot!

Thanks James! It was a very strange period; I had the best but also the worse time of my life. I'd love to relive it for the intense love my boyfriend and I shared(to tell you the truth, nothing has come close since). But the poverty was so overwhelmingly frustrating... That's something I'd never want to experience again.

None (well, none lately!), but my passport and citizenship papers tell me that I'm Irish as well as Aussie
