Hey Guys,

I´ll be in Bangkok on the 15th sept.05. Just wondering, which date the full moon party will be and how to get there.
Is it recommended to book a flight to Ko samui as soon as possible, or can I get a good deal even a day in advance? How about accomodation, is it worth to spend more days in Ko Phangan, or would Ko Samui be the better choise?

Anyone around at the same time? Would be cool to catch up.
Thanks

silv

My suggestion is Ko Samui. It it better than any other islands of Thailand.

You can get cheap flights to Koh Samui early Morning and late evening are the cheapest....The Sept full moon is 20th I think so getting good accommodation will be hard as teh island fills up a week before the full moon unless you pre book accommodation but I would reccommend not staying in Had Rin where the party is as it can be v full on even though u will have to pay a taxi into the party and out its not expensive and many others will be doing this. Koh Samui is a nice island but little bit more expensive and not as easy to meet backpackers as it is mixed families, travellers, honey moon packages etc

Good luck whatever you will have a good time if you need more advice look at www.letus-go.com for tips and advice or an alternative way to seeing Thailand

Don't stay in Had Rin - it's a dump. Much better to stay at Had Yuan beach. It's around the headland from Had Rin and only a 10 minute long-tail ride.

The beach here's good for swimming and the place is generally chilled out with a couple of bars and places to eat. If you arrive a good few days before the FMP you should get in - lots of nice, cheap bungalows.

After the party it's a real relief to be able to escape the carnage!

yep Had Yuan is beautiful and best go soon before the hotel is finished...you prob wont even get accommodation anyway in Had Rin before the full moon as it gets full about 5 - 7 days before and only the roughest accom is left....

Hi, could anyone answer a couple of quick FMP qustions:

how long does it take to get from BK to the FMP?

whats the best way to get there and how many days before the party would you recommend arriving?

do you think it would be enough to arrive in BK 3/4 days be for the party? (we will be a little pushed for time arriving from kolkata)

would it be risky to not bother with accomodation and just see what happens?! we'd prob find somewhere to sleep? but where would we put our bags?!!!!

thanks,
luciano.

You can travel several ways depending on budget...
flights to Koh Samui from BK are cheapest first thing approx 2,500 baht
Flights to Surrathani and boat to Koh Phangnan again approx 2,500 baht
Bus Vip v cheap and good service 800baht
Train 2nd class 900baht both bus and train are overnight so leave BKK 6pm arrive Koh Phangnan approx 12:00 noon the next day
flights approx 1hr...
Koh phangnan will be busy 3/4 days b4 defo unless u stay away far from Had Rin where the party is even Had Yuan will be full basically the closet resorts fill first now....Had Yao north is beautiful and may have some accomm if u book far in advance....leaving your at trvael agent is ok but then u are carrying passport and other valuables defo Not wise to take anything valuable to the party unless u intend to stay sober and even so it isnt a good idea....
-snip-
Alternatively stay at Koh Samui and go over to Koh Phangnan that nite but I think u dont know Koh Phangnan and arrinving esp if it is hard on a stnage island aint good for your bearings so many people do this and wander around Koh Phangnan lost maybe if u stay in Koh Samui go over to Koh Phangnan early in the day?
You have several options so plan best for your budget and what u feel bast for u
