Hi all. This is my first post here and I wanted
to say hello. I have read many posts and enjoy
what others have to say.

Anyhow we are going to Ft. Meyers Florida at the end
of august- hopefully no hurricanes at that time

i haven't been there in a long time.
have any of you? what do you recommend- places
to eat, things to do, etc...

just wondering so we can look forward to doing
more than sitting on the beaches.

Hey Joe, check out www.cityftmyers.com or just google 'Ft. Myers Florida' for more info. I live 1.5 hours drive south of Ft. Myers. It has been disgustingly hot and humid here. Wear shorts!

Pick any place on Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach and you will be in the right spot. I stayed at the Days Inn once but the room was smaaaall, really smaaaalll. Then again, I just needed a place to sleep, it was right on the beach though. If I remember correctly we paid $79 a night (a couple of years ago) which was really good for a beach front property. It is also off season now so you should be able to find anything around that price (or less if you dont stay right on the beach).

If you want to splurge and stay in a condo like property (nice nice nice) go with the Pink Shell (also in Estero Boulevard). If many people are going, it is basically an aparment and you can split the cost. Few years ago it was $179 a night but they just remodeled so it may be close to $200 a night, well worth it though.
